One day I was playing with my children and told them they must successfully carry a bucket of water on their heads without holding it before I “accept” their “Africanness” and to my surprise, they tried it. It was a sight to see.
Let’s just say when the exercise was over, we had a lot of mopping to do.
If you are an African parent in the Diaspora, try this satire with your children but I advise that you don’t use a bucket of water. They would like it. And this is an example of jovial ways of socializing some African culture into our foreign-born children.
Again this is a satirical posting.
