“In about three weeks, I shall depart SIGA and make way for a new appointee who you shall soon know,” declared Stephen Asamoah Boateng popularly known as Asabee as he began what he termed his final speech to the group of leaders of government agencies in that capacity.
Delivering an emotional speech at the closing ceremony of the weekend retreat that his outfit organized for Board Chairs and Heads of government agencies at the plush Rock City Hotel in Nkwatia, Asabee thanked all who had worked with him to make the transition from State Enterprise Commission to State Interest and Governance Authority seamless.
Asabee especially thanked His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for giving him the opportunity to serve the country he loves, and to Honorable Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff at the Presidency for guiding him along the way.
Unsuccessfully holding back tears that he eventually had to bring our a handkerchief to wipe, Asabee hinted without formally declaring (at least during the speech) of his next task which is to vie for the chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party.
The three-day event by SIGA is the fourth in the series of annual retreats – missing the pandemic year of 2020 – designed to educate and inform heads and board chairs of state agencies on their role and how they can be more effective.
This retreat was themed “The Strategic Role of Heads of Institution in Transforming Specified Entities Towards the Achievement of Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda.”
