In the 2021 African Cup of Nations, the Confederation of African Football threatens to relocate the opening ceremony and matches. An ultimatum was set for November 30th, 2021 for the Olembe Stadium to provide a conducive environment or forfeit the venue.
The Organizing Committee of the 2021 African Cup of Nations has run out of patience with the Confederation of African Football. Although the Pan-African body was reluctant and diplomatic, it decided to take a stance on the issue at hand.
Unfortunately, the structural conditions at Olembe Stadium are not yet favorable to hot the first match between Cameroon and Burkina Faso.
Per the ultimatum provided, by November 30th, 2021, if the construction work at the venue is not completed, another stadium will be chosen to host the opening ceremony and match.
