William Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Ghana has launched investigations into the banking and financial sector following the collapse of banks and financial institutions and financial sector clean-up and recapitalization reforms introduced by the Akufo Addo led government in less than two years of assumption of office.
A press release signed by the special prosecutor and released on January 25, 2022 informed that the newly commence investigation is targeting corruption and corruption-related offenses involving officials from the Bank of Ghana, banks, specialized deposit-taking institutions, and financial holding companies.
The same statement also invited members of the general public who had knowledge of the commission of corruption and/or corruption-related offences to lodge complaints with the office of the special prosecutor against any official in this regard.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor, headed by William Kissi Agyebeng has pledged its commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability and making sure that justice is well served.
